A website is operating and misusing the name and details of a genuine firm of solicitors.

What is the scam?

The SRA has been informed that a bogus website is operating at 'https://ashraflegal.co.uk/ ', misusing the name and details of a genuine firm of solicitors (see details below).

The bogus website misuses the genuine address for the firm's head office along with the genuine SRA number (see below). The website also provides an email address of ' info@ashraflegal.co.uk' and a purported telephone number of '01582 599481'.

Any business or transaction through the bogus website, email address or telephone number above is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised or regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Ashraf Legal Ltd (SRA ID: 803621). The genuine firm's head office address is at 29 Arundel Road, Luton, LU4 8DY, England.

The firm’s contact number is 07913 909118 and the firm’s genuine email address is ashraflegalltd@outlook.com. The firm does not have a website.

The genuine firm has confirmed that it has no connection to the other website or contact details referred to in the alert above.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
