Invoices have been sent misusing the name and details of Leeds Family Law Ltd, regarding purported legal related services.

What is the scam?

The SRA has seen a document that has been sent to a member of the public in relation to the provision of legal services. The document misuses the name and address of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below for details).

The document purports to be an invoice from the genuine firm and it suggests a payment has been made. It also provides a link and a QR code to view the invoice online via Square., The document is not associated with the genuine firm of solicitors.

Any business or transaction through the document described above is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Leeds Family Law Ltd (SRA number 560318). The genuine firm's head office address is Clockwise, Yorkshire House, Leeds, LS1 5SH. Its genuine telephone number is 0208 798 0162 and the email domain used by the firm is @leedsfamilylaw.co.uk.

The genuine firm of Leeds Family Law Ltd has confirmed that it has no connection to the document referred to in the above alert.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary.
