Warning: Letter sent misusing the details of Longfords Solicitors

A letter has been sent misusing the details of Longfords Solicitors in relation to a lease agreement.

What is the scam?

The SRA has seen a letter sent to a member of the public misusing the name of a genuine solicitor's firm (see below). The letter was sent in relation in relation to a lease agreement.

The letterhead misuses the name and SRA number of the genuine firm. The letter contains an office address of '1st Floor, 10 Charlotte Street Manchester, MI 4FL, United Kingdom', email address 'enquiries@longfordssolicitors.co.uk' and website address 'https://longfordssolicitors.co.uk'.

Any business or transaction through the contact details shown above is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor's firm named Longfords Solicitors (SRA number 423192). The genuine head office address for this firm is Greengate Business Centre, 2 Greengate Street, Oldham, OL4 1FN, email domain @longfords.net and website www.longfords.net.

The genuine firm has confirmed that it has no connection to the letter or contact details referred to in the alert above.

What should I do?
