Emails misusing the name of Olivia Green and the contact details of TMJ Legal Services Limited have been sent from the email address 'ogreen@tmjlegals.co.uk' in relation to a property transaction.
What is the scam?
The SRA has seen emails purporting to be from genuine solicitor Olivia Green (see details below) misusing the contact details of a genuine firm of solicitors (see details below).
The emails which have been seen by the SRA were sent to a member of the public in relation to the purchase of a property. The emails invited the recipient to transfer funds in tranches and proposes to provide the details of a 'trust account' for payments to be made in tranches seeking confirmations of readiness to proceed.
The emails were sent from the email address 'ogreen@tmjlegals.co.uk' appearing as if they have been sent from the genuine firm of solicitors. The email misused the name of a genuine solicitor and genuine firm's Peterlee branch address in the email sign off (see details below).
Any business or transaction through the emails and email address referred to above are not undertaken by any firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Olivia Green (SRA ID: 7165999) who is a solicitor at the genuine firm (see details below).
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called TMJ Legal Services Limited (SRA ID: 560353) whose head office address is Foster House, 99 Raby Road, Hartlepool TS24 8DT. The email domain of the genuine firm is @tmjlegal.co.uk and their contact details are:

The genuine address of the Peterlee branch office (SRA number 562339) is Turner House, Burnhope Way, Peterlee, SR8 1NT. Its telephone number is 01915865711.
The genuine firm and genuine solicitor have confirmed that they have no connection to the emails and the email address referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
