Overseas register

The Register of Overseas Entities (ROE) was launched on 1 August as part of the Economic Crime (Transparency and Enforcement) Act 2022. It brings obligations around the verification of overseas entities and requires anonymous foreign owners of UK property to reveal their identities. This will allow them to buy and sell land or property in the UK.

It has been introduced to make it more difficult for foreign criminals to launder money through UK property.

The Law Society has produced guidance on this matter as there could be issues for you.
