Outcome of SDT Hearing

This notification relates to a Decision to prosecute before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal. This is an independent Tribunal which reaches its own decision after considering all the evidence, including any evidence put forward by the Respondent. The Tribunal had certified that there was a case to answer.

The matter was heard on 22-23 and 25 August 2023.

The Tribunal did not find any of the allegations proven against Mr Sa'id and made no Order as to costs.

The above Outcome is subject to an Appeal to the High Court (Administrative Court) by the SRA. The outcome remains in force pending the High Court's decision on the Appeal.

On 23 April 2024 and 17 June 2024, the High Court heard the SRA's appeal before Mrs Justice Thornton. 

On 25 June 2024, the judgment was handed down by the Court. 

Ground one of the SRA's appeal was dismissed.

Ground two on the SRA's appeal - Appeal against the decision of the Tribunal to refuse to anonymise individuals, locations, companies and the country featuring in the case – was upheld.
