Outcome of SDT Hearing

This notification relates to a Decision to prosecute before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal. This is an independent Tribunal which reaches its own decision after considering all the evidence, including any evidence put forward by the Respondent. The Tribunal had certified that there was a case to answer.

On 19 August 2024 the SDT considered and approved an Agreed Outcome.  

The Tribunal ordered that, for a period of 5 years from 19 August 2024 except with permission of the Law Society (through the Solicitors Regulation Authority):

• No solicitor shall employ or remunerate, in connection with his practice as a solicitor Takeshige Sugimoto;
• No employee of a solicitor shall employ or remunerate, in connection with the solicitor's practice the said Takeshige Sugimoto;
• No recognised body shall employ or remunerate the said Takeshige Sugimoto;
• No manager or employee of a recognised body shall employ or remunerate the said Takeshige Sugimoto in connection with the business of that body;
• No recognised body or manager or employee of such a body shall permit the said Takeshige Sugimoto to be a manager of the body;
• No recognised body or manager or employee of such a body shall permit the said Takeshige Sugimoto to have an interest in the body.
