This outcome was reached by SRA decision.
Decision details
MyLawyer Solicitors LLP and Epoq Legal Ltd have been granted permission under Section 41 of the Solicitors Act 1974 to employ Mr Paul Saffron, subject to the following conditions:
- Mr Cohen shall directly supervise Mr Saffron’s work and conduct as an employee.
- Mr Saffron shall not receive or hold or have any responsibility for client or trust monies.
- Mr Saffron shall not be an authorised, or unauthorised, signatory to any client account or office account or trust account cheque and shall not have the authority or be given the ability to authorise electronic payments or transfers from any office, client or trust account.
- Mr Cohen must inform immediately the SRA of any proposed variation to Mr Saffron’s duties or arrangements of his supervision. For the avoidance of doubt, this must be carried out before any variation takes place, and no variation can take place without the approval of the SRA.
- This permission and its conditions set out above are subject to review by the SRA at such times as the SRA considers appropriate.
Reasons/basis
Mr Saffron was struck off the roll of solicitors on 8 May 2008. In accordance with Section 41 of the Solicitors Act 1974, any solicitor wishing to employ or remunerate him in connection with their practise as a solicitor must obtain the SRA’s approval. The SRA is satisfied that the above employment will not put public confidence in the administration of justice and the provision of legal services or the interests of clients at risk.
