Reasons/basis
Ahmed Mohammed Hersi is a solicitor who worked as a sole principal of the firm Hersi & Co Solicitors whose head office was at Kingsbury House, 468 Church Lane, Kingsbury, London NW9 8UA. In 2017, he was in receipt of an invoice dated 1 November 2017 for barrister’s fees which he did not pay and has still not paid. He does not currently have a 2021/2022 practising certificate. It was found that. By failing to pay fees he owed to counsel in the sum of £29,214, Mr Hersi has (i) breached Principle 6 of the SRA Principles 2011, and (ii) breached Principle 2 of the SRA Principles 2019. By failing to settle the fees owed to counsel pursuant to a judgment obtained in the county court dated 11 December 2019 in the sum of £40,726.98, Mr Hersi has (i) breached Principle 2 of the SRA Principles 2019. SRA Principles 2011 Principle 6 You behave in a way that maintains the trust the public places in you and in the provision of legal services. SRA Principles 2019 Principle 2 You act in a way that upholds public trust and confidence in the solicitors' profession and in legal services provided by authorised persons. Mr Hersi was directed to pay a financial penalty of £2,000 and costs of £600.
