Reasons/basis
This notification relates to a Decision to prosecute before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal. This is an independent Tribunal which will reach its own decision after considering all the evidence, including any evidence put forward by the Solicitor. The Tribunal has certified that there is a case to answer
The matter was heard on 04 February 2014.
- 1. The Tribunal ordered that, unless Mr Pillai do:
- 1.1 Pay the balance outstanding of £6568.60 to the Assigned Risk Pool (2010/11) together with any contractual interest and
- 1.2 Attend a SRA recognised practice management course and provide evidence of such to the SRA, he be suspended from practice as a solicitor for an indefinite period.
- 2. Upon any determination of the suspension referred to above, the Respondent shall be subject to the conditions by the Tribunal as follows:
- 2.1 The Respondent may not:
- 2.1.1 Practise as a sole practitioner, partner or member of a Limited Liability Partnership, Legal Disciplinary Practice or Alternative Business Structure.
- 2.1.2 For the avoidance of doubt may only work as a solicitor in employment approved by the SRA.
