Winston Rose Solicitors LLP have been granted permission under Section 43 of the Solicitors Act 1974 to employ Mrs Jusna Miah as a caseworker, subject to the following conditions:
- This approval is given on the basis of the application form and subsequent correspondence, dated 2 May 2019 to 19 June 2019 and 11 March 2024. The supervision arrangements and job description, as outlined, may not be varied without our prior written approval.
- Mrs Miah's work must be directly supervised by Qazi Imran Iqbal.
- If Mr Iqbal is absent from the firm's office for a whole day or more, Mrs Miah must not attend the office or carry out any work.
- Mrs Miah must not be assigned, undertake work on, or issue any judicial review claims.
- Mrs Miah must not receive or have access to client or office money or be a signatory to any office or client account.
- Mrs Miah must not supervise any member of staff.
Reasons/basis
Jusna Miah was made subject to an order under section 43 of the Solicitors Act 1974 on 9 April 2019. In accordance with section 43 of the Solicitors Act 1974, any solicitor wishing to employ or remunerate her in connection with their practise as a solicitor must obtain our approval. The SRA is satisfied that the above employment will not put public confidence in the administration of justice and the provision of legal services or the interests of clients at risk.

Outcome of SDT Hearing
This notification relates to a Decision to prosecute before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal. This is an independent Tribunal which reaches its own decision after considering all the evidence, including any evidence put forward by the Respondent. The Tribunal had certified that there was a case to answer.
The matter was heard on 8 and 9 April 2019.
Ms. Miah was fined £12,000 and it was further ordered that, except in accordance with Law Society permission:-
No solicitor shall employ or remunerate in connection with their practice as a solicitor, Jusna Begum Miah
No employee of a solicitor shall employ or remunerate in connection with the solicitor’s practice, Jusna Begum Miah
No recognised body shall employ or remunerate Jusna Begum Miah
No manager or employee of a recognised body shall employ or remunerate Jusna Begum Miah in connection with the business of that body
No recognised body or manager or employee of such a body shall permit the said Jusna Begum Miah be manager of the body
No recognised body or manger or employee of such a body shall permit Jusna Begum Miah to have an interest in the body.
